The Paradox of the 10 Acre Square (digital collages)

The Terror of Space, 2005, inkjet print on archival paper, 61 x 92,5cm

The collages are storyboards to our film “The Paradox of the 10 Acre Square,” in which we tried to understand how a 10 Acre piece of land we bought site unseen on ebay was embedded in space and time. Our research was not only influenced by the actualities of the desert lot itself, but also by living in a trailer at the CLUI residency next to a former WW2 military airbase on the edge of the Salt Flats in Wendover (Utah), which includes a hangar that houses the Enola Gay and barracks that local police squat teams used for shooting and raid training exercises. During our research we witnessed a wide range of military aviation training sessions for soldiers to be employed in the Iraq War and the war in Afghanistan from a close range.
