The Paradox of the 10 Acre Square (exhibition at M29)

22 October to 10 December 2005

M 29 presents eteam, Franziska Lamprecht and Hajoe Moderegger from New York, with an installation and also their new film THE PARADOX OF THE 10 ACRES SQUARE. The subject is the same as in their first film: a piece of land in the American desert bought at ebay in the context of land art, performance, video and animation. Thus, their work develops out of the fascination and difficulty, anxiety respectively of a certain place which they want to occupy, work on, alter and improve. Closely stuck to space and time, their ideational concept, at the same time a real undertaking, is guided by the unpredictability of the uncertain. In THE PARADOX OF THE 10 ACRES SQUARE, eteam, from the situation given in reality, develop a field of experiment where they, above all, are busy with the more or less ordinary difficulties of geometry.

This paradox, as an allegory for the absurdity of human existence, is documented and described in the installation, the film and also a book by eteam and Babette Richter entitled STOP AND GO Die Melancholie des Kreises.

STOP AND GO. Die Melancholie des Kreises Babette Richter (Ed.), RpB Verlag, Köln 2005, ISBN 3-9808554-5-7 As a special limited edition, the book is also available with the edition: We don’t want the road (eteam 2005).
